First Words, September 12, 2024
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25
As we move into the season of autumn Northminster has quite a few special activities which encourage friendship and fellowship. I hope you will be a part of it all! Look what’s coming…
September isn’t just for apple-pickin’ at Northminster!
-
New! Small Groups and Sunday School classes are ready for you to join: Sunday ~ Monday ~ Tuesday ~ Wednesday! Sign up in the church narthex/lobby and look at the Adult Discipleship page (click on link) Northminster | Discipleship and scroll all the way down the page to find contact people for each small group or class!
-
New! Ladies Lunch Bunch gathering at area restaurants on the 3rd Thursdays of the month. Don’t miss the first LLB this Thursday, September 19. See the Weekly News for details.
- It’s always fun to bake in the Fall and just in time because baked goods are needed for the sale at the 2nd Annual ALS Pickleball Memorial Tournament in honor of Ron Sullivan. See the Weekly News for details.
October at Northminster is going to be more fun than jumping into a pile of leaves!
- Wednesday Night Fellowship & Dinners are returning October 2, 5:30-7:00. Mark your calendar for the first Wednesday nights of October, November and December. Get ready for some fun theme nights and good food!
- Speaking of dinner…as we slide into October, we will take a look at people in the Bible who ate
Dinner with Jesus! With our new worship series, you might find yourself sharing a few meals with new and familiar friends. Stay tuned for details of opportunities for being a part of a supper club with Jesus!
- I happen to know the MISSION team is raking up fun with Northminster’s Fall Festival! Mark your calendar for Sunday afternoon, October 20, 3:00-5:00pm.
- October is also a time to celebrate the goodness of God’s provision at our tables at home and what we can share with others. It’s a matter of whole-life stewardship and sharing our God-blessings for Kingdom-sake!
- Speaking of God-blessings in October – we are going to bookend the month with TWO celebrations ~
World Communion Sunday, October 6 and
Reformation Sunday, October 27.
WHAT’S World Communion Sunday and WHAT’S Reformation Sunday, you ask?! Fair questions. Here is a clue ~ bring your kids with you to worship because we want to celebrate at God’s big table and we want to put
BIBLES in the hands of every kid who doesn’t have a Bible! See you in worship to learn more!
Surrounded by God’s blessings,
<>< Pastor Jennifer
