Northminster Weekly Blast
August 6, 2026

Current Sermon

This week we continue examining the 'Big Questions' built around the real, honest, thoughtful questions submitted by our congregation. Instead of a traditional message, we will walk through several of the most meaningful questions—about faith, Scripture, life, doubt, purpose, and the challenges we face every day—and offer pastoral, biblical, and practical guidance.

Come ready to listen, learn, and be surprised by how God speaks through the questions of His people.

Church Lighting Project

We are pleased to announce an energy cost savings deal our church has signed with Ameren Illinois! Approved by both the Building and Grounds and Finance Teams, GFCA will be installing Luminaire Level Light Controls in the majority of the building. These cutting edge light fixtures have sensors to detect when a person enters a room and can be dimmed to use less energy.

The waste produced from this project will be put into a large, red dumpster placed near our sanctuary entrance. This was necessary as they needed a centralized location for convenience and they hope to be done next week. Please come see Brian in the church office if you have questions or concerns and we apologize for the temporary inconvenience!
St. Jude Run Support

Thank you to all who made signs for the St. Jude Run and came to support the runners! What a great way to be generous neighbors.
Share Your Garden Harvest

It’s summer harvest time and if you are wondering what to do with your garden’s bountiful harvest, we have an option for you. Our Mission Partner, Peoria Grown will take our fresh produce to sell in their Market 309.

On Sunday mornings only we’ll have containers for you to place your excess produce. Someone from the Missions team will take that produce to Market 309 to be placed out with their other produce for sale.

Market 309 offers fresh produce & dairy for sale at a reduced price to residents in primarily the 61605 area. This area has become food a desert in recent years and the need is great particularly for the elderly & low income residents.

This is one way we can work toward our vision of becoming “Generous Neighbors”.
Volunteer with Angel's Arms

We are looking for help with our Angel's Arms program. As the church continues to grow, so does our need in helping our people with special needs. If you are interested in helping out, please contact LeeAnn Glatz (jlglatz@hotmail.com).  This is a great opportunity to be a kingdom mentor.
Moms In Prayer

The Moms In Prayer group will resume meeting on September 23rd in the Trinity Room at 9am. This is a great group for moms at any stage in motherhood and all are welcome!
